Ship officers

The ship’s officers at Aliança are responsible for ensuring that our ships make the trip across the seas from port to port safely, and getting our customers’ cargo to its destination on time. Close collaboration between the bridge and the engine room is just as critical as each individual’s qualifications. That’s why the company offers its captains, engineers, and young officers a broad spectrum of training options throughout their careers. On board our young fleet, you’ll find a modern workplace fully up to standard in terms of technology and safety. Since ships can only serve as a home away from home, we place great value on family-friendly deployment times, and we boast a nearly perfect record of sticking to our promises to relieve on-board personnel.

Education & Opportunities

For the students at the Escola de Formação de Oficiais da Marinha Mercante – EFOMM (Merchant Marine Officer Training School) at the CIAGA-RJ and CIABA-PA Training Centres, Aliança fulfils its promise by offering the maximum number of positions for students interested (or suggested by the Training Centres) in completing their practical apprenticeships in our fleet. In addition Aliança offers extra remuneration for those who continue with the company for two years after official graduation. This allows sufficient time for the professionals to get to know our company and our commitment.

Periodically, Aliança offers onboard placements so that teachers and students (future officers) from the Training Centres may enhance their studies during voyages and assign themes for dissertations for monographs and graduation. For many, this is an alternative to qualify, obtaining a broader vision of the profession and of our company.

The company also guarantees opportunities for women officers in the Merchant Marines, and the number of these placements is growing yearly.
